Company Names Are Singular

Lately I’ve been noticing a lot of people treating company names as if they referred to a plural object. For example, today I saw this posted in a form “Mozilla is now so well known Netscape are using it in their marketing.” Are there now multiple Netspaces? Maybe the poster meant to say “the people at Netscape.” The word “people” is plural after all. Thinking that I might be going crazy, I did a little searching and found this page on plural noun forms that seems to agree with me. I know this is really nit-picky of me, but I’m just confused. Someone, please clue me in on this weird behavior.
